Scorpio Horn and Eric Driskell Named Chiefs High School Coaches of the Week

The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the recipients of the Missouri and Kansas High School Coach of the Week awards for week four. Scorpio Horn from William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri, and Eric Driskell from Blue Valley High School in Stilwell, Kansas, each received this honor after a strong performance by their respective teams this past week.

William Chrisman won its biggest regular season game in school history with a 43-39 win over powerhouse Staley. That victory moved the Bears to 6-0 on the season, guaranteeing the program its first winning season since the early 1980s. Horn said it is great for his players to be recognized.

"These are great kids at William Chrisman and finally they are getting recognized for doing something the right way," Horn said. "This means the world to me and I will continue to push myself and coaching staff to coach these kids as hard as we can on a daily basis."

Blue Valley was impressive in its 45-28 win over previously undefeated Mill Valley. The win moves the Tigers to 4-0. Driskell said this is an honor for the entire program.

"It is an honor for our program to receive an award like this and the only way it is possible is to have a great coaching staff as well as great players," Driskell said. "So on behalf of our program, we truly appreciate the recognition of our efforts."

As a result of the award, both schools will receive a $500 grant. Additionally, both coaches will be presented with congratulatory footballs autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and a certificate recognizing their selection. Each recipient is now a finalist for their state's Chiefs Coach of the Year Award.

The 2016 High School Coach of the Week program is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. This program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance on a weekly basis. The Chiefs Coach of the Week program is intended to honor individuals who are shaping today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.

A member of the Chiefs Community Caring Team will visit the winners this week for a special presentation to honor them at their respective schools. Each state's winner is selected in collaboration with PrepsKC. For more information on this week's winners and the Chiefs Coach of the Week program, visit www.chiefs.com or www.prepskc.com.
