Christmas came a little bit early for 20 players from the Football and Cheerleading Club of Johnson County on Thursday evening.

Three Kansas City Chiefs players—tight end Travis Kelce, running back Charcandrick West and nose tackle Dontari Poe—surprised the youth at a local sporting goods store in Leawood, Kan. with a $150 gift card for each of them to purchase items that would meet their teams' needs.

"It was awesome, just to help the kids, see them with a smile on their face," Kelce said. "Sports Matter also chipped in and they're the reason. They helped youth sports all over the place that are folding and communities in schools and things like that.

"We know how important sports are at that young of an age and how much it can help them throughout life."

The Chiefs players also acted as the kids' personal shoppers and guided them through aisles of goods in an effort to help with their teams' holiday wish list.

The Football and Cheerleading Club of Johnson County was also presented with an additional $500 gift card courtesy of the store to take care of additional needs and expenses for their upcoming seasons.
