Upon Further Review: 10 Quick Facts Following Sunday's Victory Over Denver

Here are some interesting notes from the game

The Kansas City Chiefs won their fourth-straight game on Sunday afternoon with a dominating victory over the rival Denver Broncos at snowy Arrowhead Stadium.

Here are 10 interesting notes about the game.

1. The defense was terrific

Kansas City held Denver to 251 total yards, 5-of-14 on third down and just three points on the afternoon. The Broncos' eight possessions ended as follows: punt, punt, punt, field goal, punt, interception, turnover on downs and turnover on downs.

It marked the fourth-straight game that the Chiefs held the opposition under 20 points. In fact, since Week 11, Kansas City has yielded the fewest points in the NFL (45). That span includes the Chiefs' bye week, but still, the next closest team on the list – the Baltimore Ravens – have allowed 23 more points.

Additionally, the Chiefs have five more takeaways (9) than touchdowns allowed (4) since Week 11.

2. The pass-rush consistently got to Broncos' quarterback Drew Lock

The Chiefs recorded 10 quarterback hits on Sunday, with defensive linemen Chris Jones (3), Tanoh Kpassagnon (2) and Frank Clark (2) all tallying multiple hits on the rookie passer.

Jones now has a team-leading 17 quarterback hits on the season.

Additionally, defensive end Alex Okafor and safety Tyrann Mathieu each brought down Lock for sacks.

3. Juan Thornhill tallied his third interception of the year

A play after Mathieu had an interception wiped away due to a penalty, Thornhill picked off Lock in the end zone to thwart a Broncos' scoring opportunity.

Thornhill is now tied for the team-lead with three picks this season.

4. Patrick Mahomes threw for 340 yards despite the conditions

Mahomes completed 27-of-34 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday, posting a 115.7 passer rating in the contest. It was the 17th career 300-yard game for Mahomes, matching Kurt Warner for the second-most 300-yard performances through a player's first three seasons in NFL history. What makes that accomplishment all the more remarkable is that Mahomes played in just one game during his rookie campaign in 2017.

Andrew Luck holds the record with 19 300-yard performances through his first three seasons as a pro.

5. Travis Kelce set some records on Sunday

Speaking of records, Kelce set a few NFL marks on Sunday. The All-Pro tight end is now over 1,000 receiving yards on the season, becoming the first tight end in NFL history to record four-straight 1,000-yard campaigns. He also matched Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten and Rob Gronkowski for the most overall 1,000-yard seasons by a tight end (4) in league history.

Kelce also now has 6,367 receiving yards during his career, which are the most ever by a tight end through their first seven seasons as a professional.

Additionally, Kelce continued to dominate Denver.

6. Tyreek Hill was in the end zone twice

Hill kicked off the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown reception on Kansas City's opening drive. It marked Hill's 21st touchdown that covered 40+ yards over the course of his brief four-year career.

The electric Hill was then back in the end zone early in the second half, catching a five-yard pass from Mahomes and securing his seventh game with multiple touchdown grabs since 2017, which are the most of any player in the NFL.

7. Harrison Butker broke an NFL record

Butker has been just about automatic for the Chiefs since joining Kansas City ahead of Monday Night Football back in 2017, and now he has an NFL record to show for it. With 411 points now as a professional, Butker owns the record for the most points scored by a single player through their first three seasons in NFL history.

8. The Chiefs notched double-digit victories once again

Kansas City secured at least 10 victories for the season on Sunday for a fifth-straight year under Head Coach Andy Reid, passing the streak held by Marty Schottenheimer (1990-93) for the longest stretch of double-digit victories by a head coach in franchise history.

9. Kansas City hasn't lost to Denver in a while now

The Chiefs have now won nine-straight games over Denver, which is Kansas City's longest winning streak vs. Denver in the Super Bowl Era. In those games, the Chiefs are averaging 28.7 points per contest while holding the Broncos to an average of just 16.4 points.

10. The Chiefs' dominance vs. the AFC West continued

Kansas City is now 26-3 vs. the AFC West since 2015, the best mark for any team in the NFL against divisional opponents. Remarkably, the Chiefs haven't lost a Sunday divisional game since Week 13 of the 2014 season.
