Ware Returns to Practice, Other Injury Updates

Chiefs coach Andy Reid provided injury updates to the media on Wednesday

Running back Spencer Ware returned to practice on Wednesday after missing the past couple of days with bruised ribs. Ware was injured late in last week's game against the Denver Broncos and didn't return, though Chiefs coach Andy Reid said he would have been able to go back in if needed.

If Ware is available in this weekend's finale against the San Diego Chargers, he has a shot at becoming the first Chiefs running back other than Jamaal Charles to record a 1,000-yard season since Larry Johnson in 2006. Ware is currently 79 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark.

Linebacker Justin Houston was absent from practice on Wednesday due to knee inflammation.

Houston missed practice all of last week and ultimately missed last Sunday's game with swelling in his knee. The sixth-year linebacker had played in five straight games before missing last week's contest since returning from offseason knee surgery.
