Chiefs to Host 49th Annual Toys for Tots Collection

Chiefs to Host 49th Annual Toys for Tots Collection with Local Marines and Veterans during Salute to Service Game

For nearly five decades, the Chiefs and members of the Marine Corps have hosted an annual Toys for Tots collection at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs will continue this tradition when the team plays the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Nov. 16, during the club's annual Salute to Service game.

"The Toys for Tots program is an example of communities pulling together and providing for the less fortunate in our area," Gunnery Sergeant Chad A. Sawyer said. "It is the one program in which all money and toys raised goes directly to the community they came from. The Kansas City Chiefs have taken the lead in this area for decades. Their partnership with the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program, one of the longest in professional sports, has enabled thousands of Kansas City families to celebrate the holidays. The Combat Logistics Regiment 4 and the Toys for Tots Foundation thanks the Hunt family and everyone involved with the Chiefs organization for their support."

Now in its 49th season, the Chiefs Toys for Tots collection is the longest of its kind between an NFL franchise and the Marine Corps. This year's drive will again help meet a significant need for area children. The Marines are asking Chiefs fans to donate new and unwrapped toys for boys and girls up to age 13. Again this year, there is a particular need for toys that older children can utilize.

All the toys will be collected at the Arrowhead Stadium entrances by members of the Marines' Combat Logistics Regiment 4 and local representatives of the Marine Corps League. Gates into the Scout Investments Club Level open at 9:30 a.m. with the remaining stadium gates opening at 10:30 a.m. Kickoff for Sunday's game is scheduled for noon.

Fans may choose to make a financial contribution in lieu of a toy if they prefer. Cash or checks (made payable to "Toys for Tots") will also be collected by Marines at stadium entry points.

Last season, the Marines collected more than 1,300 toys and nearly $20,000 in donations thanks to the generosity of Chiefs fans. This year, the team is hoping to surpass those figures.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Hunt family have made corporate citizenship and charitable giving in the community a priority for the Chiefs. These efforts focus on many programs and organizations which improve the civic climate in our region, support families and children in crisis, improve health and wellness among children, as well as preserve the legacy and history of the game of football.
