Kansas City Chiefs Launching Official Channel for Apple TV Devices

Club content to be available for on-demand streaming for first time

On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs launched the Kansas City Chiefs Channel for Apple TV devices, just in time for holiday viewing. The over-the-top streaming application is now available for free download.

The Chiefs Channel will allow fans access to Emmy Award-winning club-produced programming from 65TPT Productions on their Apple TV devices at any time and from any location, regardless of proximity to the Kansas City broadcast market. The Chiefs will have a variety of content streaming on the Chiefs Channel, featuring longer-format television episodes as well as short web-based pieces.

Full episodes of Chiefs television shows will be available on-demand on Apple TV after they have run on KCTV5, the Chiefs local broadcast partner, while non-television content will be uploaded to the channel at the same time it is posted to Chiefs.com.

"With more fans embracing new technology to consume their content, we wanted to find a way to deliver our stories directly to Chiefs fans in formats that they are most comfortable with," Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. "Our 65TPT Production crew features award-winning storytellers who create uniquely compelling content around our team and organization. While we will continue to rely on Chiefs.com to host our content, we are excited that our digital media team has identified this opportunity for the organization to use technology to connect with our fans and viewers."

A breakdown of all Chiefs-produced video content that will be featured on the Chiefs Channel is below:

Chiefs Rewind presented by Community America Credit Union – The official postgame show of the Kansas City Chiefs. Featuring Voice of the Chiefs Mitch Holthus and Chiefs Reporter BJ Kissel on location at Arrowhead Stadium or on the road for Chiefs away games, the pair brings viewers exclusive postgame interviews with players and Head Coach Andy Reid that you can't see anywhere else.

Hy-Vee Chiefs Insider – The official pregame show of the Chiefs. It brings exclusive interviews with players and coaches leading up to each game, takes you inside the helmet with players wired for sound and much more. Hosted by Voice of the Chiefs Mitch Holthus, Hy-Vee Chiefs Insider is essential gameday viewing for every die-hard Chiefs fan.

Chiefs Blueprint – Allows fans to follow the growth of the team and roster starting with the draft and free agency, all the way through when the team arrives in St. Joseph for Chiefs Training Camp presented by Mosaic Life Care. The show offers a weekly in-depth look at the team as it prepares for the season.

Chiefs Kingdom presented by Hy-Vee – An award-winning documentary series that tells the most compelling stories from the franchise – from the extraordinary careers of Pro Football Hall of Famers and the stories of die-hard Chiefs fans throughout the world to explorations of the most incredible seasons and bitter rivalries the team has ever seen.

The Chiefs built the over-the-top viewing experience with the help of the club's mobile app partner, YinzCam. The premier mobile app developer in professional team sports, the Pittsburgh-based company has built 24 NFL club apps, in addition to more than 100 apps for teams in the NBA, WNBA, MLS, NRL, AFL and CFL.

"The Chiefs are always thinking outside of the box, but this time they were thinking outside of their mobile phones, as well," CEO and Founder of YinzCam, Priya Narasimhan said. "So we were excited to use our experience and technology in the mobile space to develop their over-the-top streaming app, which gives Kansas City fans access to even more content, through their Apple TV." The app is free to download on Apple TV and the club is looking at the potential to launch to other streaming platforms in the future, including Roku and Google Chromecast.
