Vice President of Finance, Strategy & Analytics

Biography

Michael Ragsdale enters his 17th season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023 and was promoted to Vice President of Finance, Strategy and Analytics in May 2022.

In his role, Ragsdale has built a team that helps move the organization forward by providing real-time insights, predictive results, and strategic guidance on decisions to grow the organization. He is responsible for all areas of finance, including budgeting, forecasting, capital investment analysis and reporting, as well as the club's data science efforts, including analytics and business intelligence.

He and his team have implemented the club's current organization-wide financial planning and reporting systems and brought a new data warehouse and additional CRM tools for the sales team. He also serves as the finance lead for Arrowhead Events, the team's dedicated special events business that brings concerts, college football, motorsports, and other events to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

He analyzes and evaluates new organizational initiatives and business opportunities before and throughout investment, including the club's Global Markets Program International Home Marketing Area (IHMA) rights in Germany and Mexico, as well as the launch of multiple Chiefs Fit gym locations in the Kansas City metro area.

Ragsdale originally joined the Chiefs in 2007 as a staff accountant and worked in that capacity until 2016 when he was promoted to Director of Financial Planning and Analysis (2016-18). He most recently served as Director of Strategy and Analytics (2019-21).

Prior to joining the Chiefs, Ragsdale spent three years at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He received his Bachelor of Science in accounting and finance from Rockhurst University in Kansas City and went on to earn a Master of Business Administration in accounting and finance from Rockhurst while with the Chiefs.

He is a member of both the Missouri Society of Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has been a CPA since 2016. He previously served as a Young Alumni Trustee for the Rockhurst University Board of Trustees and was a member of the board for the Young Professional Association at The University of Kansas Health System. He currently serves on the American Cancer Society Chairman's Circle.
