Biography

Baylor inked Thompson out of England High School in Arkansas for the 2017 season, and he got one start in nine appearances for the Bears as a true freshman (three tackles, one for loss). He made an impact as a pass rusher in 2018 (15 tackles, 5.5 for loss with four sacks in 10 games, two starts) and on special teams, blocking three kicks. Thompson left the Bears before the 2019 campaign, however, sitting out that year and transferring to SFA. He topped the Lumberjacks with 8.5 tackles for loss and six sacks in 2020 (among 28 total tackles, intercepted one pass in 10 starts). Thompson was a first-team All-Western Athletic Conference pick in 2021, starting all 12 games (26 tackles, 12.5 for loss with 9.5 sacks, two pass breakups, two forced fumbles). He was a first-team pick again in 2022, his production waning but still tying for the team lead with five sacks among his 25 tackles, 6.5 for loss, and forcing a team-high three fumbles in 11 starts.
