Along with Missouri, Kansas is one of 17 states running pilot programs, while 17 schools have officially sanctioned girls FLAG Football as an official high school varsity sport. With the growing popularity of sport at all levels, the Kansas City Chiefs remain motivated to continue the game's growth and bringing participation to girls at any age level.
At the collegiate level, more than 100 colleges and universities offer club or varsity FLAG Football across the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA along with thousands of teams at the intramural level. Currently, over 65 schools NCAA-affiliated schools offer FLAG Football, including Alabama State, which was the first Division I and HBCU to offer scholarships for growing the sport.
FLAG Football is the fastest growing youth sport in the country and will be included as an Olympic sport for the first time during the Los Angeles games in 2028. According to the International Federation of American Football, 2.4 million kids under the age of 17 play organized FLAG Football in the United States with millions more worldwide. Today the NFL FLAG consists of more than 1,600 teams across all 50 states.
