SALUTE TO SERVICE

Chiefs Recognize Sgt. Keanu Encinas as This Week's Tribute to the Troops Honoree Presented by Crown Royal

Sgt. Encinas serves as an administrator for the United States Marine Corps

They devote their lives to protecting those that they've never met, selflessly stepping forward to defend all that we hold dear in this country.

These individuals don't join the service for recognition or fame, it's just simply what they feel called to do, forgoing personal ambition to become a part of something much larger than themselves.

They're the brave few who make up our Armed Forces, and some of our nation's very best are right here in Chiefs Kingdom.

The Chiefs have a rich history of supporting our men and women in uniform throughout the years, including through the "Tribute to the Troops" program at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, which recognizes the real heroes in our community during every home game.

That initiative will take place once again this week as Sergeant Keanu Encinas will be recognized as the "Tribute to the Troops" honoree presented by Crown Royal during the Chiefs' matchup against the Detroit Lions.

An administrator for the United States Marine Corps, Sgt. Encinas spent three years stationed in Japan before transferring to Kansas City in 2023.

"My primary responsibilities included ensuring Marines were accurately paid, and managing their orders for deployments and temporary duty assignments," Sgt. Encinas said. "I also handled verifying that their awards and pay entitlements were correctly documented in their records."

It was a critical responsibility that Sgt. Encinas didn't take lightly, and now back in the United States, he has continued in that role while serving as a role model for young Marines.

"One of the most important parts of my role has been mentoring junior Marines," Sgt. Encinas said. "As the next generation of service members, it's critical they develop the skills and knowledge necessary to perform their duties with competence and confidence. Supporting their growth has been a key responsibility that I take great pride in."

Sgt. Encinas has interacted with countless young Marines during his five years in the service – from Okinawa to Kansas City – and as the Chiefs take on the Lions this weekend, the fans in attendance will have an opportunity to show their appreciation for all that he does for our country.

"Thank you to the Kansas City Chiefs for recognizing military members," Sgt. Encinas said. "I truly appreciate this opportunity. Being stationed here in Kansas City for the first time, I'm grateful to be a part of such a welcoming and beautiful city."
