Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Begins the "Great Canadian Handoff" Following Game

The Quebec native began a season-long celebration of Canadian players and personnel

The beginning of another NFL season is not only celebrated across the United States, but all over the world as football continues to grow into a global game.

The Kansas City Chiefs did their part to recognize fans beyond our borders on Thursday night following the season opening win over the New England Patriots. Chiefs' offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, a native of Quebec, Canada, posed with the Canadian flag following the game as part of NFL Canada's "Great Canadian Handoff."

The flag will travel around the league this season between players and personnel with Canadian ties. Duvernay-Tardif will hold onto the flag for the next two weeks before passing it on to a member of the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3.
