Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt and K.C. Wolf were at Topping Elementary School to host a special assembly Monday morning as part of the 2016 Hometown Grant Program.

Together with representatives from partner organizations, Colquitt was on hand to help present a $10,000 check to officials from North Kansas City schools.

"This is a very important part of our community, the North Kansas City School District, and they're huge Chiefs fans," Colquitt said. "You see them and their parents at Arrowhead on Sundays. So it's important for the Chiefs, the National Dairy Council, the Midwest Dairy Council, the U.S. Department of Agriculture – all of these great platforms that we have with the NFL – to come out and really push this to our young students."

The Chiefs and Colquitt partnered with the Midwest Dairy Council and Fuel Up to Play 60 for the event.

"It's not only important what you put in your body with foods – dairy foods: yogurts, cheeses, proteins, chocolate milk, granola – but also to 'Play 60,'" Colquitt added. "We encourage that, not just 60 minutes straight but 15-minute increments throughout the day, or whatever you can get throughout the day so long that it equals 60 minutes."

Colquitt joked that even though he plays a special teams position, his food intake and exercise regimen are critical pieces to performing well on the football field.

"Some would question if I'm a professional athlete – I would say I'm a professional punter," Colquitt said, "but I know that it's very important what you put in your body and what you do with your body to get it conditioned. We're just trying to push this on the younger generation so they're a healthier generation."

Dr. Dan Clemens, the North Kansas City school district superintendent, was thrilled the Topping Elementary students had an opportunity to interact with Colquitt.

"It really provides a positive role model for our students regarding the importance of exercising every day," he said. "That's wonderful. You can see how excited they were to see Dustin being here today."
