The Kansas City Chiefs took the field for the first full practice of training camp on Wednesday morning as they continued their preparation for the upcoming season.
Here's a quick rundown of what took place during Wednesday's practice.
1. The Chiefs held the first of two practices exclusive to Season Ticket Members.
In accordance with tradition, the Chiefs kicked off training camp with the annual pancake breakfast on Wednesday as part of the first practice that was exclusive to Season Ticket Members. The STMs in attendance enjoyed the very first look at this year's squad before taking advantage of a full-team autograph session following practice.
The second exclusive Season Ticket Member practice will take place on August 11.
2. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes participated in 11-on-11 drills for the first time since tearing his ACL.
Mahomes, who continues to work his way back from a torn ACL suffered last December, took a significant step in that process on Wednesday when he participated in 11-on-11 drills for the first time since suffering the injury.
"He did everything, which is a positive," said Head Coach Andy Reid. "He looked pretty good today. [He looks] strong. You can see the strength in his legs, which is important with a leg injury…His feet are moving well."
Mahomes took three snaps as part of the 11-on-11 period in what was ultimately an abbreviated practice, but he also logged a handful of notable plays during the earlier 7-on-7 portion. Specifically, Mahomes found tight end Jared Wiley for a big gain up the seam early in the session. He later found tight end Travis Kelce outside the numbers for a sizeable gain, and during the red zone 7-on-7 period, Mahomes linked up with rookie wide receiver Cyrus Allen on two occasions.
"Cyrus had a good day," Reid added. "I think Pat has some trust there."
3. Rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier recorded a pair of impressive throws.
Nussmeier, a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, made one of the plays of the day during an 11-on-11 segment when he rolled to his left and fired a rocket on the run toward tight end Jake Briningstool, who hauled in a toe-tap grab near the sideline.
It was a great all-around play by Nussmeier, who later tallied a no-look completion to tight end Tre Watson over the middle during 7-on-7 drills.
4. A handful of defensive players stood out on Wednesday.
Several defensive players stood out on Wednesday, including linebacker Jack Cochrane, who hauled in an interception over the middle during 7-on-7 drills.
Defensive back Chris Roland-Wallace also notched a noteworthy defensive play when he punched the ball away at the catch point during a 7-on-7 period. Safety Chamarri Conner later added an impressive play, too, with a strip-and-scoop during the 11-on-11 period.
5. Here's a look at Wednesday's injury report.
Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (knee) began camp on the "Physically Unable to Perform" list, or "PUP," as he continues to work his way back to the field. Following practice, Coach Reid mentioned that Norman-Lott is making progress.
"He's working hard out here with our training staff and strength coaches," Reid said.
Wide receiver Rashee Rice (knee) and cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (knee) each participated in a portion of Wednesday's practice as part of a planned "ramp up" period. Reid indicated that both players will receive a larger workload as camp progresses.
Additionally, cornerback Mansoor Delane (shoulder) participated in non-contact portions of Wednesday's practice.
Lastly, tight end John Michael Gyllenborg (knee) and defensive end Ethan Downs (knee) were both placed on season-ending Injured Reserve.
