The Kansas City Chiefs took the field for the 12th practice of training camp on Tuesday morning as they continued their preparation for the upcoming season.
Here's a quick rundown of what took place during Tuesday's practice, and for reference, all previous practice reports are available below:
1. Tuesday's practice was exclusive to Season Ticket Members.
The entirety of Tuesday's practice was exclusive to Season Ticket Members, marking the second STM-only day of this year's camp.
Fans in attendance were treated to the annual pancake breakfast event before the practice, and once the final drills wrapped up, the entire team engaged in an autograph session.
2. Safety Jaden Hicks had another strong day.
Hicks, who made a handful of noteworthy plays during Monday's practice, was back at it on Tuesday with another impressive performance.
Specifically, the third-year safety made a strong pass-breakup on a tight window throw near the sideline during 11-on-11 drills before logging a diving pass-breakup down the field a little bit later.
Another defensive player who stood out on Tuesday was rookie cornerback D'Arco Perkins-McAllister, who – during an 11-on-11 segment – provided sticky coverage on a route over the middle and broke up the pass.
Cornerback Nohl Williams also made a noteworthy play when – amidst 7-on-7 drills – he darted across the field and made a leaping pass-breakup deep over the middle.
3. One of the greatest duos in NFL history connected early and often on Tuesday.
The legendary combination of quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce was in full force on Tuesday as the historic duo linked up for multiple completions during 7-on-7 drills, including a beautiful throw-and-catch over the middle of the field.
This marks the ninth training camp for Mahomes and Kelce as starters together, and while each player has reached the pinnacle in terms of accomplishments, they're still working to refine their respective crafts in St. Joseph.
4. The Chiefs were in pads for the seventh time in nine days.
Kansas City is in the midst of a grueling stretch that has the players in pads for a total of eight practices in just 10 days.
The Chiefs took one step closer to completing that span of practices on Tuesday with their second padded practice in a row, and while this portion of camp is truly a grind, the players often point to stretches like this as the kindling that prepared them for a long football season.
Tuesday's practice, in particular, included multiple 11-on-11 periods, a 7-on-7 segment and yet another "long drive drill." The "long drive drill" segment, which simulates the play-to-play nature of an actual game, challenged the starters on both sides of the ball with 15 consecutive plays without a break.
Kansas City will compete in another padded practice on Wednesday before engaging in a lighter practice on Thursday ahead of the preseason opener this weekend.
5. Here's a look at Tuesday's injury report.
Offensive guard Trey Smith (hip) and linebacker Drue Tranquill (back spasms) didn't practice for the Chiefs on Tuesday. Wide receiver Jimmy Holiday (quad) left early.
Cornerback L'Jarius Sneed (knee) didn't participate in Tuesday's practice either, although his absence was part of a planned management schedule.
Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (knee) also remains on the "Physically Unable to Perform" list (PUP) and did not participate in Tuesday's practice.
