Limited-Edition Arrowhead Poster Series Brings Every Home Matchup to Life

Local artists are creating limited-edition posters for sale prior to every home game

Nothing can quite match the thrill of an afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium, from the smell of barbecue in the parking lot to watching the top offense in the National Football League light up the scoreboard.

This already has the makings of a special season, amplifying that experience even more, and the Chiefs are offering yet another way to commemorate each and every home game in 2019 with a new, limited-edition poster series.

Each week leading up to a game at Arrowhead, a new, retro-inspired poster highlighting the upcoming matchup will go on sale exclusively at the Chiefs' Pro Shop. The posters – which are limited in quantity to just 1,000 each week - are $20, with all proceeds going toward that game's 50/50 raffle in partnership with the Hunt Family Foundation.

The 12x18 posters were each designed by local artists, providing some of the Chiefs' most talented fans with an opportunity to creatively celebrate the franchise's 60th season.

"What we're really going for is the chance to highlight the talent of our fans while trying to do something unique that focuses on the matchup and the Arrowhead experience," said Joe Sargent, Chiefs' Director of Brand Marketing. "We found a bunch of local artists who are all so excited to be a part of it, and they're all either from here or based here. It's a way to highlight the Kingdom, so to speak."

The series began with local designer Tad Carpenter, who was responsible for the first poster of the season a few weeks back ahead of the home-opener. The poster brought things full circle for Carpenter, whose career essentially began with a Chiefs-themed project.

"My first ever real design project was actually for the Kansas City Chiefs. In third grade, I won a contest to have my artwork used on the 1991 Kansas City Chiefs season tickets," Carpenter recalled. "That experience showed me how my work can positively impact people and truly gave me the confidence and reassurance I needed to pursue a life in the arts, as well as a lifelong love of Chiefs' football. I wanted my 2019 poster to show the excitement and love I have for this team while also showing the pride and energy that explodes from Arrowhead, the greatest football stadium in America."

Another local artist, Sike Style, put together this week's poster in anticipation of the Chiefs' clash with the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday Night Football. It's just the latest piece of artwork produced for Chiefs Kingdom by Sike Style, who also painted a massive, Chiefs-themed mural in Westport for Red Friday last month.

It's another one-of-a-kind entry into the season-long series, and with only 1,000 posters available every week, they tend go quickly.

"These will definitely be a collector's item in a lot of fan caves," Sargent said. "It's one of those things that should be a hot item because there's only 1,000 of them, and when they're gone, they're gone."

Visit the Chiefs' Pro Shop to purchase this week's poster while they're still available, and keep an eye on Chiefs' social media every Tuesday prior to a home game to see that week's artwork.
